Fulltime RV adventure starts in the USA and now own two Fifthwheels
Together with their Westie, Sparky, they started their USA adventure with the purchase of their first fifthweel in Ohio in 2015. After much searching they found the RV online while still living in Australia and in a few months met with the private sellers who introduced them to fifthwheel RVing. Venturing out from Coshocton, Ohio, they traveled east to West Virginia, Virginia, then north to Maine. Moving back to Cape Cod for a few weeks, then traveled through New York State and westwards to Washington State. In a few months they journeyed south and headed through Oregon to California where they stayed around San Diego for a while. Headed a little more east to Arizona and Nevada and eventually settled in Northern California in Sonoma County, where Napa Valley is located. They purchased a new Heartland fifthwheel in 2018 and call it ‘home’, while taking short side-trips in the Durango fifthwheel.
When did the technical interest begin?
Alan first started in the technical field way back in 1977, and within months started towards qualifications to become a commercial pilot in Australia. Excelling in the engines and systems curriculum, Alan became very successful in diagnosing various technical problems that can arise in the Outback of Australia where aviation technicians are scarce. Although he did not formalize his technical skills and remained a pilot in command in general charter and corporate fleets for over 12 years.
After another career period for over two decades in marketing, sales, and promotions, Alan decided to return to the technical field and enrolled with the National RV Training Academy in Athens, Texas to eventually become recognized by the RVIA / RVDA as a certified RV technician and is currently in qualification for Master Technician status.
Alan has extensive RV repair knowledge and is especially keen on the more technical appliances like air conditioners, water heaters, refrigerators, and furnaces.
