Fifth Wheel Shower Wall Repair
RV shower wall repaired with PVC trim molding and new rivets
The owner of a Sprinter fifthwheel RV contacted me in Sonoma County with a broken shower wall. Flexing in the walls caused warping to the shower wall. The rivets shattered the PVC wall material where these rivets attached the shower wall lining to the external wall.
I offered that the most permanent solution would require removal of the entire shower door and glass partition, then replace the damaged shower wall with new sections. This would have cost up to $2,000 as a guess, but the owner did not want major repairs, and asked for new rivets in different locations and something to seal the cracks and holes left by the damage. While this may not solve the original problem, it was a simple and cost effective solution costing only a few hundred dollars with reasonable quality and finish.
Three solid PVC strips were neatly trimmed and fastened through the shower wall and into newly drilled holes in the original RV wall. The new rivets were added. Note that the color of the rivets did not match, but these were the only ones locally available in the short space of time. The owner accepted the color choice.
This RV soon hit the road and made the trip from California to North Carolina and return through the early North American winter. The shower remained intact for all those miles!
